County Air Ambulance

The first base is at RAF Cosford, near Wolverhampton and this is the control centre for all three helicopters, the second aircraft is at the Road Chef Motorway Service Area at Strensham in Worcestershire (just past junction 8 of the northbound M5) and the third aircraft is located at the East Midlands Airport on the Derbyshire/Leicerstshire border. By having the aircraft so dispersed, it means that in spite of an area totalling 8,000 square miles the County Air Ambulance helicopters can reach all parts of the region within 19 minutes and 80% of the region within 8 minutes flying time!
