When learning to drive both feet must operate independently of each other, for instance lifting the clutch pedal sometimes needs to be coordinated with pressing the gas or brake pedal and vice versa, this needs to be done without thinking about it as our arms may need to be changing gear or steering whilst we are concentrating on what is happening around us. In the early stages of learning to drive we need to concentrate on the above skills, only when we can co-ordinate without think about it, focus and adapt correctly to what is happening around us without any prompts from a third party can we truly say "I Can Drive"
